Katie Rose Quandt an award-winning freelance journalist who writes about criminal justice, incarceration, and inequality. She is a senior contributing writer and editor at Solitary Watch, and has written longform and investigative stories for The Atlantic, Slate, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, The Village Voice, The Appeal, The Nation, Vice, In These Times, and many other publications.

Katie Rose is a 2023 Ira A. Lipman Fellow, and was a 2017 Soros Justice Media Fellow and a 2020 Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellow. She previously worked for the Prison Policy Initiative, BillMoyers.com, and Mother Jones. She is pursuing a M.A. in Biography & Memoir at the CUNY Graduate Center. Originally from rural Upstate New York, she lives in the Bronx.
